SAFARI ROOM
’KINDLING – EP’ OUT JUNE 20TH
Safari Room’s ‘Kindling EP’ will release on June 20th, 2025. This EP is an exercise in stripping everything away and focusing on the SONG. The collection of songs an expression of simplicity and telling stories, very much like songs around a campfire. These songs are incredibly personal and some of the deepest songs I’ve written to date. The newest song “Pale Blue” is about the quiet heartbreak of growing apart—accepting when a relationship has run its course and finding the strength to let someone go, even when you still long for them.
“Cut Out” is a stream-of-consciousness song about the deep grief of unrequited love—when romantic feelings aren’t returned, and in the fallout, you not only lose what could have been, but also the friendship you once had. “The Hero” wrestles with the hope that a change of place might ease inner struggles, only to realize the real work is internal—a reflection on doubt, perseverance, and the choice to keep chasing a dream or walk away.

“PALE BLUE” LYRICS
Lucy, can you hear me?
You’re back from outer space but somehow never left.
Lucy, do you recognize me?
You’re a million miles away but laying in my bed.
Darling you’re my everything.
We’re running through the evergreens.
Your head to toe and all between,
but you don’t seem to remember me at all.
Lucy, can you hear me?
You’re looking at the stars like you’re missing home.
Lucy, will you say somethin’ please?
Are you searching for a better life, is it time for you to go?
‘Cause darling you’re my everything.
We’re running through the evergreens.
I feel the growing space between
‘cause you don’t seem to remember me at all.
You’re a ghost or a pale blue figment of someone I used to know.
A long lost soul, stolen away in the night to find solace in some other home.
And left me staring at the moon.
Was that a shadow, or was that you?
Lucy, are you happy?
Did you find where you’re supposed to be, wandering the great unknown?
Amazing what a mind can achieve
when left to roam.
Darling you’re my everything.
We’re running through the evergreen.
You’ll always be a part of me,
but I don't think you remember me at all.
You’re a ghost or a pale blue figment of someone I used to know.
A long lost soul, stolen away in the night to find solace in some other home.
And left me staring at the moon.
Was that a shadow, or was that you?
“CUT OUT” LYRICS
Would it be better just to cut you out,
become a ghost and never speak to you again?
Would it be better just to cut you out?
I don’t know if I am strong enough to go back to being friends.
You’re like a splinter in my thumb,
far too deep to rip out now.
Over time, I'm told, it’ll work its way on out.
But I keep picking. I keep wishing for this feeling to go away.
Then, I look down at my hand, and you’re still there.
But when you’re gone, will I miss the pain?
Will I wish it would come back, or will I be in a better place?
Would it be better just to cut you out,
become a ghost and never speak to you again?
Would it be better just to cut you out?
I don’t know if I am strong enough to go back to being friends.
You’re like a tattoo on my mind,
one that I’ve come to regret.
I wish I could erase your face and just forget
that I was smitten. I’ve been bitten and have fallen head over heels
for a man who cannot feel the way I wish that he could feel.
But if you did, would I miss the pain?
Am I a masochist, or am I slowly finding my own way?
Would it be better just to cut you out,
become a ghost and never speak to you again?
Would it be better just to cut you out?
I don’t know if I am strong enough to go back to being friends.
You’re like a splinter in my thumb,
a thorn right through my side.
You are the salt and the wound.
You are an itch that won't subside.
You’re always nipping at my heels,
you’re like an engine light aflame.
You are the ringing in my ears,
a constant memory of the pain.
You’re like a never ending siren.
You are famine and you are feast.
You’re the monster underneath my bed,
a mosquito on a leash.
A bad penny always turning up,
I will never shake you loose.
I’m a ticking bomb when you’re around.
You’re the match, and I’m your fuse.
You’re like a tattoo on my mind,
you are the one that I can’t have.
Every time I think I’m healing,
you’ll find me picking at the scab.
”THE HERO” LYRICS
When you run away for good,
do you think they’ll send a search team?
You’ve been at this game for years.
Is it finally time to leave?
I see a light beyond the woods.
Is it better cause it’s bright?
Tangled up in vines, they keep me where I stand.
There’s no such thing as wrong or right.
Stay… If i stay,
does it mean I have to stay the same?
Go… If i go,
will I break the pattern?
Does it really matter anyway?
It’s like I've seen this place before.
I think I know what happens next.
The hero has a fateful choice:
Should he run away or
Stay… If i stay,
does it mean I have to stay the same?
Go… If i go,
will I break the pattern?
Does it really matter if I stay?
If i stay,
it doesn’t mean I have to stay the same.
And go… If i go,
will I break the pattern?
Does it really matter anyway?
But no matter where you are,
the devil clings to every move.
If you can’t kick him out the car,
stay or go my boy you’re doomed.
