HOW TO KEEP A FIRE BURNING (EP) – FALL 2025
Safari Room (Nashville, indie rock outfit) is gearing up for an EP release this Fall. The 4-song EP entitled, How to Keep a Fire Burning, is Safari Room’s boldest and most robust release yet. The songs are an expression of a yearning for newness, looking for silver linings where we can, getting out of our own way in search of happiness, and radical self-love and acceptance. This EP is the follow-up to Safari Room’s third full-length album, Time Devours All Things (2024).
The opening track, “The Wheel,” sets the tone with pulsing urgency, a confession of exhaustion wrapped in cyclical motion. It’s a cry from the eye of the storm, about being stuck in routines that drain more than they sustain. It’s not just about needing change, it’s about needing something real.
“Land of Open Doors” offers the counterpoint: a gentle nudge toward light. It’s an anthem for the stuck, a message of possibility that reminds the listener they’re “someone worth fighting for.” Through rich metaphor and melodic lift, the track opens emotional space to breathe again.
Third track “Cloudy” dives inward. It’s a candid portrayal of anxious overthinking — the mental loops that distort reality and isolate. But it’s also a lifeline, delivered with humor and care, reminding us to “slow down and stop freakin’ out” before we float too far away.
Closing with the title track, “How to Keep a Fire Burning” is where reflection becomes renewal. It’s a song about survival, yes — but more than that, it’s about choosing to live a life that’s true to one’s self. With imagery of ash and feathers, cages and sunlight, the track offers no simple answers, only the hard-won beauty of radical self-love.
