SAFARI ROOM
”THE HERO” OUT APRIL 11th
On Friday, April 11th, Safari Room will release a new track called “The Hero.”
“The Hero” was written about wanting to leave Nashville but knowing it may not make a difference in my mental health journey. Sometimes the angst is from within and relocating may not fix those internal problems. As an artist, hustling and writing and releasing songs, the question of “is this working?” comes up from time to time. This song is an expression of that internal struggle, knowing when to hold, fold or walk away.
This track is the first of three acoustic songs Safari Room is releasing this Spring. The others are “Pale Blue” and “Cut Out.” They are an exercise for me in stripping everything away and focusing on the SONG. The EP, titled “Kindling,” is an expression of simplicity and telling stories, very much like songs around a campfire. These songs are incredibly personal and some of the deepest songs I’ve written to date. “The Hero” will release on April 11th, and it is part of a larger work/EP called “Kindling.” The second song, “Cut Out,” will release on May 16th and “Pale Blue” will be released on June 20th.

“THE HERO” LYRICS
When you run away for good,
do you think they’ll send a search team?
You’ve been at this game for years.
Is it finally time to leave?
I see a light beyond the woods.
Is it better cause it’s bright?
Tangled up in vines, they keep me where I stand.
There’s no such thing as wrong or right.
Stay… If i stay,
does it mean I have to stay the same?
Go… If i go,
will I break the pattern?
Does it really matter anyway?
It’s like I've seen this place before.
I think I know what happens next.
The hero has a fateful choice:
Should he run away or
Stay… If i stay,
does it mean I have to stay the same?
Go… If i go,
will I break the pattern?
Does it really matter if I stay?
If i stay,
it doesn’t mean I have to stay the same.
And go… If i go,
will I break the pattern?
Does it really matter anyway?
But no matter where you are,
the devil clings to every move.
If you can’t kick him out the car,
stay or go my boy you’re doomed.
